The Crisis Intervention Counseling Program is designed to provide prevention, intervention and support services for students and their families in the Ridgewood Public School District. Crisis intervention counselors work collaboratively with school administration, grade level advisors, guidance counselors, child study team, and teachers at the middle and secondary levels.
The program provides a safe place for students to discuss any issue(s) they may be experiencing. Discussions are confidential and will not become part of the student’s school record. Please note that all conversations with the Crisis Intervention Counselor are confidential EXCEPT if there is concern of immediate harm to self or others or there is suspected or reported abuse/neglect.
Students are encouraged to use the program for help with family problems, emotional concerns, alcohol or other drug abuse, feelings of depression, anxiety related issues, eating disorders or any type of personal problem. Similarly, parents are also encouraged to utilize the program for consultation, referral sources, and education as needed.
